A Santa Claus rally is a rise in stock prices in the month of December, generally seen over the final week of trading prior to the new year.
The January Effect is a calendar-related anomaly in the financial market where financial security prices increase in the month of January. This creates an opportunity for investors to buy stock for lower prices before January and sell them after their value increases.

Had an interesting conversation this morning that made me remember an article on Ars Technica on Intel’s 48-core cloud-datacenter-on-a-chip. Couple that with Barrelfish, a research OS for multi- and many-core systems, we may see a new generation of new servers/data centers.

Finally… I now have a proper VPS hosting on Linode, and am running this blog and some other services off it
After a bout of running it on friends’ servers and a dabble with Amazon’s ECC, hopefully there WILL BE no more downtime/migration/get-off-my-server-because-it-is-more-than-4-years-old issues.
I will be redoing the site from scratch, based on experience from the last few attempts, and hopefully this will be something that will last.
